Your customer has asked for an EcoVadis rating and given you a date. We find the gaps before you submit, build the policies and evidence the methodology looks for, support you through the questionnaire, and turn the scorecard into a plan for the next one.
EcoVadis rating support in the UAE and Dubai with ESGweise: readiness gap review, policy set and evidence pack, questionnaire support and a score improvement plan after the scorecard, for suppliers asked by European and multinational customers to be rated. ESGweise is independent of EcoVadis; EcoVadis analysts score every assessment themselves.
What EcoVadis is, and why customers ask for it
EcoVadis rates how well a company manages its environmental, social and ethical impacts, judged on the policies it has, the actions it takes and what it reports.
Large buyers use the rating to screen and monitor their suppliers. They invite you through the EcoVadis platform, and when you register through their invitation link the scorecard goes to them as soon as it is published. The rating is only carried out with your consent, you pay for it yourself, and the scorecard is valid for 12 months, so a customer who asks once will usually ask again next year.
A medal is not a certificate. EcoVadis asks companies to describe it as "rated by EcoVadis" or "assessed by EcoVadis", never as certified or verified, and requires a link to its Recognition Page whenever a medal or badge is shared outside the platform.
How an EcoVadis assessment runs
Registration
You register the legal entity, scope, location, size and industry. These set which questions you get and how you are scored, so they are worth getting right.
Questionnaire
A questionnaire tailored to your size, industry and countries. The default deadline is 30 business days, which you can extend yourself by up to 60 business days in total.
Document evidence
Only answers backed by documents earn credit. Documents must be formal, complete, clearly yours, dated and machine-readable rather than scanned, with a limit of 55 files.
360 Watch
EcoVadis screens outside sources, including news, NGOs, trade unions and government bodies, for positive and negative findings about your company. Serious negative findings can block a medal.
Analyst review and scorecard
Analysts check every document against your answers and score the result. EcoVadis says results typically publish six to eight weeks after you submit, with a short window first in which only you see the scorecard and can flag factual errors.
Four themes, 21 criteria, one score
- Environment: energy and greenhouse gas emissions, water, biodiversity, air pollution, materials, chemicals and waste, product use and end of life, customer health and safety, environmental services and advocacy
- Labor and Human Rights: health and safety, working conditions, social dialogue, career management and training, child and forced labour and human trafficking, discrimination and harassment, external stakeholder human rights
- Ethics: corruption, anticompetitive practices, responsible information management
- Sustainable Procurement: the environmental and social practices of your own suppliers
Each theme is scored 0 to 100 from management indicators: policies, endorsements, actions and certifications, reporting and 360 Watch. Actions carry the most weight. The overall score weights the themes by how material they are to your industry, and scores are adjusted for company size and country risk, so a small company is not expected to have what a multinational has. EcoVadis describes 45 to 64 as good, 65 to 84 as advanced and 85 and above as outstanding.
How medals are awarded now
Since January 2024 medals have been awarded by percentile rank, not a fixed score. You are compared with every company EcoVadis rated in the previous 12 months, across all industries. The score each tier needs is the one that puts you in its percentile band, so it moves from month to month, and EcoVadis now publishes the current figures each month:
- Platinum: top 1%
- Gold: top 5%
- Silver: top 15%
- Bronze: top 35%
The threshold that counts is the one for the month your scorecard is published, and it can move as more companies are rated. A medal also needs at least 30 in every theme and no disqualifying 360 Watch findings, and some industries are excluded. Companies that miss a medal can still earn a badge: Committed for a score of 45 or more, or Fast Mover for a score of 34 to 44 that has risen at least six points within 18 months. Medals and badges last as long as the scorecard, 12 months.
EcoVadis support from ESGweise
- Readiness gap review: before you submit, we go through the themes and indicators that apply to your size and industry, and show where evidence is missing and what it would cost in points.
- Policy set and evidence pack: the policies, targets with baseline years, procedures and records the methodology credits, built around how you actually work, and organised so each document answers the right question.
- Questionnaire support: working alongside your team through the questionnaire so answers and documents line up, inside your customer's deadline.
- Score improvement plan: after the scorecard, we turn its improvement areas into a plan for the next assessment, ordered by effort and likely effect.
ESGweise is independent of EcoVadis. We are not an EcoVadis partner, we hold no EcoVadis accreditation, and we play no part in scoring: EcoVadis analysts score every assessment themselves. We do not promise medals. We make sure the work you already do is evidenced properly and that the gaps are closed with real practice.

EcoVadis Rating Support: questions we hear most
What is EcoVadis, and why is my customer asking for it?
EcoVadis rates how well a company manages its sustainability impacts. It scores your policies, actions and reporting across four themes, Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement, and publishes a scorecard from 0 to 100 that stays valid for 12 months. Large buyers use it to screen and monitor suppliers: they invite you through the EcoVadis platform, and if you register through their invitation link your scorecard is shared with them as soon as it is published. A rating is only ever carried out with your consent, and the rated company pays for it.
How much does an EcoVadis assessment cost?
EcoVadis charges the rated company an annual subscription. Its support pages say the fee depends on company size, the plan you choose and your location, and that prices exclude VAT. The size bands are 1 to 25, 26 to 99, 100 to 999 and 1,000 or more employees, and the plans are Basic, Premium, Select and Corporate. We do not quote EcoVadis prices here because they are set per company; the pricing tool on ecovadis.com and your own account show the figure that applies to you. If a customer has just invited you, you may get up to six weeks to fill in the questionnaire before paying, with the subscription due when you submit. Only Premium, Select and Corporate subscribers can share a medal or badge outside the platform. Our support is a separate cost: AED 3,000 per consultant day, quoted as a fixed scope after an initial review.
How long does an EcoVadis rating take?
Plan for two stages. The questionnaire has a default deadline of 30 business days, and you can extend it yourself from the platform by up to 60 business days in total. After you submit, EcoVadis says results typically publish in six to eight weeks, sometimes sooner or later, and it does not guarantee publication before year end for questionnaires submitted after 30 September 2026. Most of the real time goes into gathering formal, dated evidence, so if your customer has set a deadline, count back from it and start on the evidence before you open the questionnaire.
How is EcoVadis scored, and what score do I need for a medal?
Each theme is scored 0 to 100 from management indicators covering policies, endorsements, actions and certifications, reporting, and the 360 Watch review of outside sources. The overall score weights the themes by how material each one is to your industry. Medals are awarded by percentile against every company EcoVadis rated in the previous 12 months: Platinum for the top 1%, Gold the top 5%, Silver the top 15% and Bronze the top 35%. Because the cut-off moves as more companies are rated, EcoVadis now publishes the score each tier needs every month, and we check the current figure at the start of every engagement. You also need at least 30 in every theme and must meet the 360 Watch and industry conditions. The threshold that applies is the one for the month your scorecard is published.
How do we improve a low EcoVadis score?
Start with the improvement areas on your scorecard, which show where points were lost. Many low scores come from missing evidence rather than missing practice: a policy that was never written down, a target without a baseline year, an action with no record behind it, reporting that does not cover enough of the business, or documents that are scanned images, undated, or attached to the wrong question. Fix those with real documents from a working system, then add the actions and reporting that the methodology credits most. EcoVadis screens out documents written only for the assessment, so the work has to reflect how you actually operate.
Can you guarantee an EcoVadis medal?
No, and nobody honestly can. EcoVadis analysts score every assessment independently, and the score each medal needs moves every month with the rest of the rated network. ESGweise is not affiliated with EcoVadis, is not an EcoVadis partner and holds no EcoVadis accreditation. What we can do is make sure the practices you already have are evidenced the way the methodology credits them, and give you a candid view of the gaps before you submit.
