ESG ratings, CSR and supply chains
ESG ratings, CSR programmes and supplier audits answer the same question from different directions: can an organisation show what it does on environmental, social and governance issues? Rating agencies such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, S&P Global and EcoVadis score companies on different methods, so the same company can receive very different ratings. EcoVadis carries particular weight in supply chains, where buyers ask for a scorecard before awarding contracts, and supplier and social audits under SA8000, SMETA and amfori check conditions on site. CSR sits alongside these as the programme a company runs for its community and people, and it earns credibility only when it is planned and evidenced. This collection opens with how CSR, ESG and sustainability differ, explains ratings and how to improve them, and covers procurement and supply chain audits. It then turns to CSR strategy and the Dubai Chamber CSR Label, and ends with the 2026 changes to rating agencies and the EU ESG Ratings Regulation.
