UAE climate and environmental compliance

UAE climate compliance now rests on law rather than voluntary pledges. Federal Decree-Law 11 of 2024 on the Reduction of Climate Change Effects came into force on 30 May 2025, Cabinet Resolution 67 of 2024 established the National Register for Carbon Credits, and the national MRV platform gives designated entities one place to report their emissions. Abu Dhabi adds its own layer through the Environment Agency: facility-level GHG reporting, an annual environmental data report and permit conditions. Waste rules run in parallel, as extended producer responsibility, the single-use plastic ban and the federal waste law each place duties on producers and operators. This collection opens with a map of how these rules feed an ESG report and explains the three federal climate instruments. It then covers waste, Abu Dhabi facility reporting and verification, and finishes with energy audits, the measurement and verification of savings, and independent review of energy performance contracts.
